Join us! Volunteers significantly enhance the quality of life, community spirit and fun at Cassellholme. You'll get plenty of encouragement and support to build on your skills.
Take the first steps!
- Fill in the form [printed copies are available at Cassellholme].
- Email it to volunteer@cassellholme.ca or drop it off at Cassellholme.
- We'll call you to schedule an interview. If it feels like a good fit for you, and for us, we'll contact your references.
- Every volunteer over 18 needs to get a criminal reference check [CPIC] before they start volunteering – you'll be reimbursed for the cost.
- The last step is to sign you up for a one-hour volunteer orientation.
Students 12 and up are encouraged to volunteer at Cassellholme to complete your high school community hours. Events and activities happen after school, or on evenings and weekends. It's interesting, rewarding and fun volunteer work, with many programs geared towards students. You'll be well-supported by Cassellholme professionals and welcomed by our Residents!
If you have time to give, your contribution to seniors in your community is greatly needed and appreciated. Who knows, you might even find career ideas.
Cassellholme supports many placement and cooperative education programs. We provide a meaningful experience that reaches the educational outcomes of many designated programs, including:
- High school cooperative education
- PSW community hours
- Paramedic program community hours
- Activation and techniques in gerontology placement
- Recreation and leisure placements
- Social work/social service workers placements and community hours
- Ontario Works placements
Canada is experiencing an important rising trend in employer-supported volunteerism. Nationally, companies are encouraging employees to be active humanitarians in their communities.
When a company supports employee volunteerism, it sends a clear and significant message to the community that they are aware of its needs. It also fosters teamwork and pride when employees take active voluntary roles in the community. They increase staff moral and bring positive attention to their business or company.
While financial donations are always appreciated, the gift of volunteer time is equally important. We have plenty of opportunities for individuals, or groups of employees, to help seniors actively participate in recreational programming, enjoy comfortable dining experiences, or have meaningful one-on-one visits.
National Volunteer Week
A week set aside in April to recognize Canadian volunteers who so graciously contribute to our communities and people in need.
National Volunteer Week will be April 27 – May 4, 2025
Ontario Volunteer Service Awards
Each year a maximum of six volunteers from individual organizations can receive their volunteer pin and recognition from the Government of Ontario. Adult volunteers require a minimum of five years of continuous service with one organization to qualify; the pins are given out in five-year intervals thereinafter.
The youth volunteer award requires two years of continuous service with one organization.
